Join us in conversation with Thomas McConnell, author of The Wooden King. This debut novel explores denial, desire, and family drama, set against the backdrop of Czechoslovakia during World War II. It reminds us of all the great historical fiction of that era we’ve been enjoying lately; fans of Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale and Anthony Doerr’s All The Light We Cannot See will find much to love. Come listen to the story behind the story. 7pm. Absolutely free.
Thomas McConnell is a professor at University of South Carolina Upstate, and spent time in the Czech Republic as a Fullbright scholar. He is also the author of A Picture Book of Hell and Other Landscapes.
