And stick around for a 7pm conversation with our own Ashley Warlick and John Gregory Brown, about his fourth novel, A Thousand Miles From Nowhere.
Set against the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, this is the story of a man on the run from himself. Henry Garrett is haunted by the ruins of his marriage, a squandered inheritance, the teaching job he inexplicably quit, as well as the family curse of madness he’s felt at the edges of his mind since before the storm. When he finds himself washed ashore in a tiny Virginia town, the community that ganvanizes around him (and their own tradgedy) offers an incredibly human chance at salvation. The question is, can Henry accept it?
This novel makes a full picture of a man at his own crossroads, and pays particular hommage to Southern time and place. A not-to-be-missed read by one of our favorite authors.
