Author Dorthe Nors shares the experience of when and how she learned to listen to the world around her. It was in about the last place I’d expect anyone to be able to hear much of any particular thing: New York City.
It was there, on a subway train, that she heard a comment a man made that changed the way she thought of things. She remembered it, and later, she used it in a story. Life is like that all around us, handing us lines and images and memories that we can use to write our own stories. All we have to do is listen.
