I’d never even thought about it, but if there’s a Library of Congress, why wouldn’t there be a librarian associated with it? Seems so obvious once you know it’s there.
A couple of weeks ago, the US Senate confirmed Carla Hayden as the librarian of Congress. Hayden was nominated by President Obama and will serve a 10-year term. She is the first woman and the first African-American to hold the position. Every now and then, maybe we actually get something right.
