Going once, going twice

A rare first edition of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland is going to auction on Thursday, June 16 at Christie’s in NYC.  Although the first run of the book (in 1865) included 2,000 copies, Carroll had most of them destroyed because the illustrator wasn’t pleased with the pictures.  Only 23 known copies remain.  The book is expected to go for between $2m and $3m on Thursday.  Might need to check between the couch cushions for this one, friends.
