M. Judson is launching a new kind of bookish evening this winter, bringing together a couple of our favorite pastimes for a laid-back approach to a literary happy hour. Join us Fridays and Saturdays throughout the winter for authors talking about their books and breweries talking about their beers, stories sure to complement each other.
Georgia-native Taylor Brown’s debut novel, Fallen Land, is set in the last days of the Civil War, starring a young couple on the run, pushing back against the devastation that is Sherman’s March to the Sea. Callum, a seasoned horse thief, and Ava, a pregnant young woman with no man around, have only each other in the world, and their noble horse, Reiver. Their story is one of love and loss, honor and difficult choices. Now in paperback, Fallen Land earned comparisons to Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy (more heart) and Charles Fraizer’s Cold Mountain (more tension).
Joining Taylor this evening will be the folks from 13 Stripes Brewery. They’ll be bringing samples of their particular brand of balanced, traditional European style beers, as well as their craft-influenced classic American styles. (These guys are also history buffs, so be prepared for some curious cross-pollination in the conversation.)
