There's a saying that all stories are love stories. (There's also a saying that all stories are wolf stories, and we like that one a lot: we're raised by wolves, thrown to the wolves, turning into wolves, one way or another, all the time, right?) To celebrate the many forms that storytelling takes, we're teaming up with our friend and local musician genius Charles Hedgepath to bring you and evening of books and songs that go together. Think of it as a our kind of old fashioned variety show, where great books and authors come together with great musical themes for a truly special Sunday evening in the bookstore.
Our June Lit Live theme: Murder!
Joining Charles will be Georgia author Brian Panowich, a remarkable new voice in gritty outlaw Southern fiction, with his first novel, Bull Mountain, the story of the moonshining, pot-running, meth-making Burroughs clan, pitted against their white sheep son, Clayton Burroughs, now sheriff of this North Georgia county they call home.
But when the feds show up at Clayton’s office with a plan to shut down the mountain, this novel pits brother against brother, testing all the loyalties, and the darkest waters of self-destruction.
